OPC UA (OPC Unified Architecture), a new generation of industrial machinery networking standard released by the OPC Consortium in 2008, officially replaces the old OPC networking standard.
OPC UA is a communication standard based on a "client/server" architecture. It replaces the old "OPC" data exchange technology based on Microsoft Windows and C++ language, and is no longer tied to a particular operating system or communication suite, allowing a wide range of different types of equipment from different vendors, as well as different online/cloud services, to communicate with each other using a single common contact standard.
OPC UA is platform-neutral, programming language-neutral, and has superb expandability and advanced data security features, making it one of the core backbones of Industry 4.0.
All Chennai injection molding machines manufactured from 2004 onwards are equipped with networking capabilities as standard to support OPC UA.
